Springleaf Prata Place: A Michelin-recommended Innovative Eatery

Springleaf Prata Place has won culinary accolades from the world-famous restaurant guide MICHELIN Guide, which is considered a hallmark of dining by restaurant patrons. Since 2019 MICHELIN Guide Singapore has honoured Springleaf Prata Place with the Michelin Plate award. The guide recommends it as one of the finest prata eateries in Singapore which “serves prata that comes with a sweet or savoury filling.”
The Michelin Plate is the designation for restaurants that serve “very good food.” Not easy to obtain, the Plate honour mark a restaurant’s entry into the Michelin system, and is awarded to restaurants that Michelin considers the very best in a given city. The prata eatery remains the top-ranked choice in the 2022 MICHELIN Guide Singapore.
Founded in 2003 by SV Gunalan, Springleaf Prata Place, the family-owned restaurant from Singapore offers authentic cuisines from South and North India. Springleaf Prata Place has grown to ten outlets in a short time, including nine in Singapore and one in Las Vegas, USA.
"What I believe sets Springleaf Prata Place apart from the competition is the attention to detail, the number of turns of a prata. It’s a hawker food, but we decided let’s bring it to another level. We were the first air conditioned prata shop in Singapore. We have nine outlets in Singapore now and push 50,000 pratas a week, that’s 200,000 a month. Culinary Accolades
While Roti Prata is well-loved street food in Singapore, Springleaf Prata Place has established itself as one of the most innovative and experimental prata places in Singapore. It is, known for offering this famous dish while introducing its own creative, quirky, and innovative prata creations.
“We started innovating from day one. We created traditional dishes with new ingredients and ideas inspired by cuisines from different cultures. That’s why our pratas are different. They reflect a marriage of different cultures, and that is what we want to bring into our pratas as well.” - SV Gunalan.
The outstanding prata restaurant franchise from Singapore boasts many creative options like the Murtaburger, the plaster blaster, Ultimate Murtabak, Umami 50, Portobello Cheese Prata, and of course, their Coin pratas have captured the hearts of customers. Another defining thing that makes Springleaf unique is its Ultimate Series, which introduces a new creative prata every year on Singapore’s national day. Each year, they refresh their menu by offering customers new innovative prata dishes, usually launched in conjunction with the Hawkerfest event.
